Health Care services are available across the Robson Valley. The McBride and District Hospital is equipped with an emergency Room, 3 acute care beds and 8 long term care beds. X-ray and lab services are also available.

Two full time doctors are stationed here along with a full contingent of nursing staff. The Valemount Health Centre provides full service as well, with 3 full time doctors, a full contingent of nursing staff, lab technicians and support services.

Pharmacies can be found in the community of Valemount and for McBride within the McBride & District Hospital.
Acupuncture and massage therapy are also available in the valley.

Northern Health provides Mental Health and Addiction Services, Public Health Services and Home and Community Care for valley residents. Additionally they provide a health bus that travels to Valemount, Kamloops, McBride, Prince George and Vancouver for medical appointments when services are not available locally.

BC Ambulance Service is stationed in both McBride and Valemount and 911 Service is available throughout the valley. Patients are transferred to Northern BC University Hospital in Prince George when required, and to surrounding hospitals in Jasper, Clearwater, and Kamloops when needed. Air evacuation facilities are available.

Unleash your creative side! The Robson Valley has an active arts community. With no commute to worry about you can use your new found spare time to join a theatre group, make some music, or learn a new artistic skill.

Services and shopping are available in both Valemount and McBride. When you want to take advantage of a more extensive selection you have relatively short and easy access to Edmonton, Prince George or Kamloops.

There is a vibrant Arts Community in the Robson Valley with many artists and craftspeople making the area their home. Samples of work done by local painters, woodworkers, potters, photographers and tactile artists can be found in the Whistle Stop Gallery in McBride and the Valemount Visitor Centre.

The wood found in northern BC is ideal for musical instruments and there are several luthiers in the Valley. Luthiers specialize in building and repairing stringed instruments such as guitars and mandolins.

Keith Berg is a world renowned French horn maker resides in Dunster, providing his superb work to musicians around the world.

Dunster is the home of the Robson Valley Music Festival and artists come from across North America to perform during this magical weekend. If you are a fan of any genre there will be something that teases your senses. Bluegrass, folk, jazz, soul, reggae, world music and more are all represented here.

There are active theatre groups in both Valemount and McBride. The McBride Roundhouse non-profit society makes it its mission to bring professional musical and theatrical entertainment to the Robson Valley. Valemount Community Theatre is an initiative of the Valemount Arts and Culture Society. Wishbone Productions produces and stages theatre productions throughout the Robson Valley.

Education

Students in McBride and Valemount have access to great elementary and high schools within their communities. Students from outlying areas (Dome Creek, Crescent Spur, Dunster, and Tête Jaune Cache) are bussed to either Valemount or McBride.

The Robson Valley Junior Academy is also located in McBride and provides schooling for children from grade 1 – 8. Post secondary education is available through the College of New Caledonia and University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George, and Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. Additionally, Edmonton Alberta has an abundance of post secondary options.

Active Seniors organizations will keep you busy with activities. Trips to Jasper or Prince Rupert are planned by using VIA Rail Service, and bus trips to Prince George for Christmas activities or Casino visits are common. Recreation Centres provides seniors rates to use the workout equipment or participate in carpet bowling.
